WHO WE ARE?

Creole Finery is a jewellery and accessory brand created in 2020.

Brand owner, Shalmai Jones, wanted the name to embody a part of who she is. Creole, according to the Oxford Dictionary, is a mother tongue formed from the contact of a European language (especially English, French, Spanish, or Portuguese) with local languages (especially African languages spoken by slaves in the West Indies).

From growing up hearing Jamaican Patois being spoken around her to being introduced to Nigerian Pidgin in her older years, Shalmai found creole beautiful, a true expression of culture and heritage through the pain and oppression of colonisation.
